The Turbo, Carrera 4S, and GT2 have the proportions, the wide hips, and that unmistakable rear end that made this generation of the 911 special. As the 996 has gone from used Porsche to modern classic, even some of the things people used to criticize have become part of its charm. The original tail lights, though? Those haven’t aged quite as gracefully. The Founders Parts 996 LED Tail Lights were designed to fix that, without changing the character of the car.

OEM+ by Design: No weird shapes. No over-styled aftermarket nonsense. The Founders Parts LED Tail Lights for the widebody 996 are clearly inspired by newer generations of the 911, and that’s exactly the point. We retained the iconic silhouette and traditional red outer lens, then added a smoked inner section around the lighting elements for more contrast and depth. The result doesn’t look like an aftermarket tail light trying to turn your 996 into something it isn’t. It looks like the natural evolution Porsche could have built themselves. Same iconic silhouette. Same unmistakable 996 character. Just updated to look like it belongs in the current decade.

Complex by Design: Our 996 Widebody Tail Lights are by far the most complicated lights we’ve ever developed. The triple-shot injection-molded lens combines black, red, and smoked plastic sections into a single, seamless piece, all precision molded to follow the body lines flowing through the rear fenders, bumper, and decklid while maintaining tight, OEM-level gaps around the entire assembly. Getting all of that right made these a serious development challenge, but one that was absolutely worth it. We couldn’t be happier with how they turned out.

Full LED Performance: Nothing screams “It’s 2002!” like an old incandescent tail light with a faded or cracked lens and a brake light you can barely see. The Founders 996 Tail Lights bring everything up to date. A full-width LED light pipe runs across the top for the parking light, high-output red LEDs handle braking, amber LEDs take care of the turn signals, and bright white LEDs light up reverse. Every function modernized. Every output brighter. A serious upgrade from the originals.

Plug-and-Play Fitment: These lights were engineered specifically for the 2002–2005 Porsche 996 widebody platform, including the Carrera 4S, Turbo, and GT2. They use the factory mounting points and electrical connections, so installation is straightforward with no cutting, coding, or permanent modifications required. Remove the originals, install the Founders lights, and plug them in. Shout out to Porsche for not over-engineering that process!

Built for the Road: The Founders Parts 996 LED Tail Lights are designed to comply with FMVSS 108 requirements for on-road use in the United States. From the optics and light output to the lens configuration and integrated red reflex reflectors, every detail is engineered with federal safety standards in mind. Vehicle Fitment: Designed specifically for the 2002–2005 Porsche 911 (996.2) widebody, including the Carrera 4S Coupe and Cabriolet, 996 Turbo Coupe and Cabriolet, and 996 GT2. These lights are not compatible with narrowbody 996 models or 996.1 vehicles.
